This is the White Stripes 7 nation army intro/verse:

Intro/verse:

-----------------------------------
-----------------------------------
-----------------------------------
-----------------------------------
---7-------7-10-7-7----3---2-------
-----------------------------------

Then repeat that until he goes into the chords, then play:

------7--7--10--7--3--2-----------
------7--7--10--7--3--2-----------
------7--7--10--7--3--2-----------
------9--9--12--9--5--4-----------
------9--9--12--9--5--4-----------
------7--7--10--7--3--2-----------

In case you were wondering, hes not playing a bass,
its a guitar effect that makes it sound like a bass.
I think its called a sub-octave or something.

umm no... not even close man, the intro is played on the low e string and is 7-7-10-7-5-3-2 and the other part u have on here is really messed up... it doesn't sound anything like it, i think it's more like:
E|
B|
G|9-9-12-9-7-5-4
D|9-9-12-9-7-5-4
A|7-7-10-7-5-3-2
E|

then:
E|
B|
G|9-9-12-9-7-5s7-5-4
D|9-9-12-9-7-5s7-5-4
A|7-7-10-7-5-3s5-3-2
E|

i'm not sure on the solo part of the song, but yeah, that stuff right there is pretty close to correct. the only thing this guy posted that was correct was that there is no bass guitar in the song. sorry... but the tabs are wrong

none June 23, 2003, 0:52

All of these are wrong. He uses a slide for most of the song. On the bass-like sounding part, it's a guitar. He uses a different tuning. I saw it live, it's definitely a different tuning.

mike June 23, 2003, 3:33

everyone chill out. i will end all the discusiion about this song.

his guitar is in open A tuning which is
e a e a c# e

then on the a string you go

A--7---7---10--7---5--3---2-----------

jimbo July 7, 2003, 23:17

dude he is playuing slide... so i beleave that this last fellow is correct..

dwd July 10, 2003, 5:44

From what I understand, it's normal tuning with a bass string for the bottom e.

Frost July 10, 2003, 22:55

Mike is right, the intro is:

A| 7-7-10-7-5-3-2

santos July 22, 2003, 18:54

I think bill is right...

anomonous July 28, 2003, 22:30

the intro sounds better on the bottom e-string
5-5-8-5-3-1-0

mike August 27, 2003, 17:08

add a solo it goes like this G|-9-9--9/12-9-7-12~-11-9-9--9/12-14-12-11 1 gotta figure out the rest later

mike August 27, 2003, 17:12

im the mike who rote the solo and that other mike who rote everyone cill out isnt me

Ty October 24, 2003, 22:31

k clearly there are many ways to play it.. so your all rite... bill sounds rite.. and that's what the majority of the people think

DayWalker November 21, 2003, 21:23

Ty's got a point

Mangi December 7, 2003, 23:59

Ya I got a band and at most of our gigs we open w/ 7 nation army its a very good "CROWD WARM UP SONG". As long as u play it correct cuz if u dont it sounds cheep and no one will like it so i got some diff view points and asked diff people on how to play this song and out of all of them the one that is correct is The Mike guy that told everyone to chill out.
if u got a prob than i will refer u sum names to talk to so e-mail me
mangi8822@yahoo.com

mandy July 6, 2004, 5:35

everyone is right i guess but i
like to play it anomonous's way.

michael August 2, 2004, 23:31

Rikki August 28, 2004, 16:41
