Song: Thug Mansion (Acoustic)
Artist: Tupac Shakur feat. Nas

This song was relativaly easy, although the guitarist uses a lot
fancy-shmancy hammer ons and pull offs throughout the song. Just
place the hammer-ons in appropriate places, and you can pull off a
close copy. I'll tab the places where I put my hammer-ons and pull offs
so you can get an idea. Basically, improvise and you'll sund pretty good.
THis song uses two guitars, but this tab will show you the BULK of the song.

Tuning: Standard (E A D G B e)

Here are the basic chords played without the improvisation

G#: (4 6 6 5 4 4)
D#: (X 6 8 8 8 6)
A#m7: (X 1 3 1 2 1)
Cm7: (X 3 5 3 4 3)
C#: (X 4 6 6 6 4)
E*:   (X  7  9  9 11  7)    ---->    * It's an Esus something or other. :)

The basic chord pattern goes:

The slashes represent strumming

    G# D# A#m7 Cm7 C# A#m7 Cm7 E*
=|===================================================
4| | | | |
-|--/--/--|--/--/--|--/----/----/--|--/----/----/--|
4| | | | |

There, you got the basic gist of it. Now for a bit of creativity.
The guitarists don't do this exactly, but it's pretty damn close, and at least the notes are correct.

Intro:
e|----4-4---------------6-6--------------1----3----4---1----3----7------------|
B|----4-4---------------8-8-9-8-9/11\9---2----4----6---2----4----11-11--------|
G|----5-5--6-5----------8-8--------------1----3----6---1----3----9-----9------|
D|----6-6-----6---------8-8--------------3----5----6---3----5----9-------9----|
A|-------------6-4----6------------------1----3----4---1----3----7---------7--|
E|--4----4--------------------------------------------------------------------|
    G# D# A#m7 Cm7 C# A#m7 Cm7 E*

Verse and Chorus:
e|----4-4---4h6p4----------6-6----------------1----3----4---1----3----7-----------------|
B|----4-4------------------8-8--8h9p8---------2----4----6---2----4----11-11-9h11p9------|
G|----5-5---------5--------8-8--------8-------1----3----6---1----3----9------------9----| repeat
D|----6-6------------------8-8----------8-----3----5----6---3----5----9--------------9--| throughout
A|-----------------------6-----6--------------1----3----4---1----3----7-----------------|
E|--4-----4----------4------------------------------------------------------------------|
    G# D# A#m7 Cm7 C# A#m7 Cm7 E*

Solo:
This is what I can make out from the many times I've heard it. If anyone can add, be my guest.

e|-------11/13--13--9p8------------------------
B|-9-8h9----------------11p9-8h9p8------------- UNFINISHED
G|---------------------------------10-7-10/12--

But if it helps, a A# pentatonic scale will do the trick.

\ = slide down
/ = slide up
h = hammer-on
p = pull-off

just a notice the last chord is actually just another D# other than that your work is right with the song

Robert Sears February 23, 2003, 22:37

Your second chord (D#) should actualy be a C minor and your last chord (E*) should be a (D#7)

Legion Bound February 24, 2003, 7:19

the second chord (D#) should actually be a C major and the last chord should be a (D#7)

Kristian March 27, 2003, 12:12

How is the rythm of the tabs idicated?

by the way March 27, 2003, 12:15

...Even if each line(-) is 1/8 it doesn't add up.

I'm STILL LOST March 28, 2003, 2:07

SOMEONE HELP ME OUT HERE... HOW DO YOU PLAY 5 STRINGS AT A TIME? I DONT GET IT MAN I'M SORTA NEW AT THIS TABBING SHIT SO I DUNNO. HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

PuppaY March 30, 2003, 5:33

it's not that hard...when u see alot of the same frets...just bar that fret instead of putting a finger on each string...like the beginning...bar the 4th fret and just put fingers on the 5th and 6th frets...

David March 31, 2003, 3:14

This is good best tab thug masion ive seen yet i was estatic when i finally got it right . found it easy to read took me a bit to get the speed and changes right but its good ...thanks

Kenny Tan March 31, 2003, 9:32

Hey, when you say the last E* is a D#7 (on the verse and chorus line) do yah mean to say that the following:
------------|
11-9h11p9---|
---------9--|
----------9-|
------------|
------------|
is not played?
and the same question goes with the E* at the intro line replaced by D#?

Charles Sumner March 31, 2003, 19:42

I never realized there was some talk about this tab. Okay, I'll try to address all of the topics as best as I can.

1) The D#7 vs. The E*

I know that the E* isn't the only chord you can use, but a D# or D#7 does not work for me. A C#7 / Db7, however does work, in this case:

e|--6--|
B|--5--|
G|--4--|
D|--6--|
A|--4--|
E|-----|

And this produces about the same sound.

2) The song's rhythm

I tried to see if I could "slash" out a basic rhythm, but I guess I failed. The beat of the song is a standard 4/4 timing and the beat for each note would be (using my generic strumming scheme):

G# - 2 half notes
D# - 2 half notes
A#m7 - eighth note
Cm7 - eighth note
C# - eighth note (let it ring)
E* - eighth note (let it ring)

I know my dashes weren't correct, but I wasn't using them to display measure time, but as a guide to average the beats out per measure using the 4/4 timing.

3) The Cm7 vs. The Cm

A Cm sounds almost like a Cm7, except for fretting the 5th fret of the G-string. I personally felt that since this song had a lot of basis on the 7-chords I figured the Cm7 would only be appropriate. The Cm and Cm7, I think, is your preference.

I hope I answered all of your questions.

still lost April 4, 2003, 1:10

wat do you mean by "baring" the fret? you mean put ur finger all the way thru the fret and hold it down? can someone help me....

Denner April 8, 2003, 0:41

yeah the kid who is lost, say
for instance the tab is
5 5 5 5 5 5 , you put your
index finger all the way
down on the 5th fret of every
string, thats barreing, it
might or it probably will take
a while to produce a sound
with it but just practice barre
chords and you will get it

s masta April 15, 2003, 2:21

all the chords are right ( although c minor works really well for the second chord) except for the last chord. after spending much time trying to figure this out for my girlfriend, what i came up with was a triad of c# e and A# played on the top three strings at the 6th 5th and 6th frets respectively. it sounds pretty close

dp April 21, 2003, 9:50

QUESTION/REQUEST!!??!!??!!?? Can somebody tab the first track off of Tupac's "Remember Me" album. It's gotta be one of the best guitar songs I've ever heard. I'm too tone death to learn it. HELP

Adam April 22, 2003, 4:02

first off, i would personaly use the c minor7 for the second chord. then for the c# chord in the run i would drop the octive of c#, so the notes would be c# d# c f g#. and the last chord will be
5 6 5 6 onthe top four strings, making the notes g c# e a#.

Adam April 27, 2003, 9:12

correction in my previous statement, the c# chord should have a g#, not a d#. sorry.

AnGeL! June 19, 2003, 22:28

THE CHORD IS:

E--------4------
B--------6------
G--------4------
D--------6------
A--------4------
E--------x------

AND IT'S BARRED!!!!

Angry Penguin June 20, 2003, 4:16

josh February 17, 2005, 6:33

when the chords slide up (the A#m7,
Cm7, etc), i believe the riff is:

e
a
d
g-6-8-8/10---
b-6-8-8/10---
e
