This is Tom Northcott's version, but there were apparently other versions
by Nilsson & Michael Nesmith which I haven't heard, but which may
not have had the key changes from G to A & then to C....

   Rainmaker       came to Kansas in the middle of a dusty day.       The

   Rainmaker     said to the people, "Tell me what u are prepared to pay"

    Rainmaker said to the people, "Well, I'll conjure up rain today."

      90 degrees 'neath the trees where it's shady, hundred & 10 in the hot

 the Rainmaker's eyes & the Kansas skies both became a darker grey.
