It's Been Awhile (Acoustic)

Performed by Staind

Tabbed by Liam J. Holland

I tabbed this from a live acoustic version of the song.
All strings are tuned down a half step (ie: Eb-Ab-Db-Gb-Bb-eb).

The intro, and the verses:
"*" denotes holding the note for a second before proceeding
"(p)" denotes a pull-off

eb---------0*---------------------------
Bb-------3---3--------------1*-0--------
Gb-----2-------2----------0------0------
Db---2------------------2---------------
Ab--------------------3-----------------
Eb--------------------------------------

eb--------------------------------------
Bb-------------------------1----3(p)1---
Gb-----------------------0---0--------0-
Db-------0----0*--------2---------------
Ab-----4----4----4*-0-------------------
Eb--------------------------------------

Here are the chords for the chorus: "..and everything
i can't remember..."

"x" denotes an unplayed, or dead, string

Am: eb-0 C: eb-0 G: eb-3 D: eb-2
    Bb-1 Bb-1 Bb-0 Bb-3
    Gb-2 Gb-0 Gb-0 Gb-2
    Db-2 Db-2 Db-0 Db-0
    Ab-0 Ab-3 Ab-2 Ab-x
    Eb-x Eb-x Eb-3 Eb-x

The rhythm for this is pretty easy to figure out if you listen
to the song...

The chords and rhythm for the bridge ("..why must i feel
this way...") are the same as the chorus.

The end goes as follows: Play the intro/verse once, and then this:

eb---------0*----------------------------
Bb-------3---3--------------1*-0---------
Gb-----2-------2----------0------0-------
Db---2------------------2--------------0-
Ab--------------------3--------------4---
Eb---------------------------------------

And that's it! Enjoy! This was my first tab, and I think
it is right. It may not match the album version of the song,
but it matches the live version I have.

Ovanrsson April 26, 2003, 19:58

I saw a local band cover this in a club one night and they played it Am,C,G,D and it sounded great.

Britni June 6, 2003, 4:31

it was great

justsomeguy August 2, 2003, 18:39

I agree with Ovanrsson, i didn't see that band play at that club he's talking about but you can clearly see Aaron's hands playing those chords. Anyways thats the way i play it and it does sound really good.

sarah October 13, 2003, 21:08

if thats the way you play it then obviously you know how to play the song.. so why are you here

Sua-B December 24, 2003, 2:58

This tab its wrong, the real notes are Gm#, B, F#, and C# or you can tune the guitar half tune down to make the chords at Am

jon January 2, 2004, 13:54

i totaly agree with you Sua-B!!! I've played this in many different ways, this certainly is the best.

krist January 19, 2004, 21:28

dude sounds good but you should male it sound even better the next time

john January 31, 2004, 23:40

well it looks like the cords are perty much the same just for the tuning of the guitar. what i was wondering is does any one on here know of a site that i can down load the sheet music for this song for free?

Jim March 1, 2004, 6:34

The Am,C,G,D works really well.it's sounds really cool acoustically if instead of the C use a Cm bar chord on the 3rd fret and lift the middle finger when playing it

jeff March 8, 2004, 15:08

Mine is alot better.

Jerry March 13, 2004, 23:20
