Song: Germans in Leather Pants
Artist: The Smashing Pumpkins
Album: Gravity Demos
Tuning: Dropped D
Tabbed By: Max Perenchio (Maxacaster@aol.com)
Notes: Guitar 1 doesnt need to be in dropped D, it never goes any lower than
the D String. This tune is an instrumental recorded at Gravity Studios around
1994. The song is also known as "New Wave Echo".

///Lead FIG. 1\\\ played by guitar 1. (w/echo)

E--------14-14--------14-14--------14-14----15-15-15-
B----------------------------------------------------
G--14-14-------14-14--------14-14--------14----------
D----------------------------------------------------
A----------------------------------------------------
E----------------------------------------------------

///Rhythm FIG. 1\\\ played by guitar 2

E----------------------------------
B----------------------------------
G----------------------------------
D---7-7-5-4-5-4-2-0--0-2-0-5-5-5-5-
A---7-7-5-4-5-4-2-0--0-2-0-5-5-5-5-
D---7-7-5-4-5-4-2-0--0-2-0-5-5-5-5-

The song starts out with Lead Fig. 1 alone 2x, then the band joins in. The
song goes on like that for many measures until.

///Lead FIG. 2\\\ played by guitar 1

E-----------------------------------r
B-----------------------------------e
G--/14-14-12-11-12-11-9-7--7-9-7-9^-p
D-----------------------------------e
A-----------------------------------a
E-----------------------------------t

then

E-----------------------------------
B-----------------------------------
G--/9-9-7-6-7-6-4-2--2-4-2-4br-2----
D----------------------------------- x4
A-----------------------------------
E-----------------------------------
Many variations occur, especially at the bending parts.

During Lead FIG 2, guitar 2 continues to play Rhythm FIG 1

The song then goes back to Rhythm FIG 1 and Lead FIG 1 playing together until

///Rhythm FIG 2\\\
E---------------------------------
B---------------------------------
G---------------------------------
D------4-4----4-4-----4-4---4-4-4-
A--0-0----0-0-----0-0-----0-------
D---------------------------------
That doubles LEAD FIG 1 as you can tell.

Heres the other riff guitar 1 plays towards the end.
E---------------------------------
B---------------------------------
G---------------------------------
D--7-7-5-4-5-4-2-0--0-2-0-5-5-5-5-
A---------------------------------
E---------------------------------

The song rotates around those riffs. If you listen to it you should easily be
able to find the proper rhythm, as well as when to play each part. I wont lie
to you, the song was very easy to transcribe, it took me about 15 minutes to
write the entire tab, i dont think its very difficult. LISTEN TO IT
