Tennessee Flat Top Box
Rosanne Cash

Key of A/D (the turnaround modulates)
Key of B/E (if capo'd 2 frets like the record)

intro D / / A / / /

                 A E
verse1 In a little cabaret in a South Texas border town
                 E A
Sat a boy and his guitar and the people came from all around
           (E) (F#)(Ab) A E
And all the girls from there to Austin
                 E A
Were slippin' 'way from home and puttin' jewelry in hock
           (E)(F#) (Ab) A E
To take the trip, to go and listen
                   E A
To the little dark-haired boy who played the Tennessee flat top box
           (A)(B) (Db) D
           And he would play

turnaround D / / / A D / / A (repeat)

verse2 Well, he couldn't ride or wrangle, and he never cared to make a dime
But give him his guitar, and he'd be happy all the time
And all the girls from nine to ninety
Were snapping fingers, tapping toes, and begging him don't stop
           And hypnotized and fascinated
By the little dark-haired boy who played the Tennessee flat top box
           And he would play

turnaround

verse3 Then one day he was gone, and no one ever saw him 'round
He vanished like the breeze, they forgot him in the little town
But all the girls still dreamed about him
And hung around the cabaret until the doors were locked
And then one day on the 'Hit Parade'
Was a little dark-haired boy who played the Tennessee flat top box
           And he would play

By the way, this song is in B, not A. Capo up 2 frets to play. That's what
Randy Scruggs did on the record, and Steuart Smith did/does live.

almost perfect tab, but i found the capo sounds like the original if its in the first fret. It is in a different key if the capo is placed in the second fret
