Hi!
I got something for the brave ones: Robben Ford's "Ain't Got Nothing But
The Blues" (From: Talk To Your Daughter)
The Chords are rather difficult, but I don't have the time to write all
the fingerings down.
Well, as you can see, there are a lot of question marks - since english
is a foreign language to me, I need some help with those lyrics...
please listen to this record for me once agein and send me the lyrics...

This may be the greatest jazz-blues song I've ever heard. I got to see him play it live and your chord names are correct but he uses many different chord voicings up and down the neck. English is my language so I can sure fill in some lyrics for you.
no "bounce" in my shoes.
no coffee that's "perking".
no feelings to "bruise".
no winners to "lose". only 1 o
no "Chris-Craft" to cruise.
"Sold all my money in Chester"
I'm not certain about that last line, that's just the way I hear it but I don't even know what it means. When I get to Heaven I'll ask Duke.
I'm guessing that "chester" is short for Westchester, an affluent suburb just north of NYC.
After writing the above corrections I listened to this song again with headphones and I think the last line is correct.
"So long my Molly in Chester".
At least it makes sense.
John
I think the line is
"sold my house in Westchester"
I hear :
"They leave me frigid, I can't get with it"
The last line might be :
"Sold all my Muddy and Chester"
meaning records by Muddy Waters and Chester somebody or other.
For what it's worth - this song was originally written by Duke Ellington and recorded by Rosemary Clooney. Robben Ford has added a lot of lyrics, but the beginning and basic outline is the same.
"Muddy" refers to Muddy Waters. "Chester" refers to Chester "Chet" Atkins.
I reposted this song with the chord charts. Man what a great song but what was Robben doing to his rythem section when he wrote this song. UGhhhh......
Does anyone know what the chords for the coda are?
hey folks, the version he is doing here is from Mose Allison - Jazz-Blues from the sixties.
The line, "Sold all my Muddy and Chester," makes sense as both men were popular at about the same time, but Chester refers to Chester Burnette a.k.a Howlin' Wolf a big time blueman.
Hey folks, Merry Christmas. Check out the "Blues & Beyond" video it's all there for this tune.
