this is a great tab but i know there is a couple notes missing and there is also some chords in the song but this is a great tab!

Cortney June 10, 2003, 18:14

I play this song C-F-G-F-C. I think it sounds better and the transitions are easier. Whatever works for you though!

johnny August 11, 2003, 16:12

the intro riff is ok, but I think Cortney's chord progression is much better.

Dan September 13, 2003, 14:35

Oh my god .....could you be any whiter dan ...stick to the rolling stones and leave the HIspanic lyrics alone ...because u suck at them

merlin January 9, 2004, 23:49

i think that la bamba tab from olga is wrong (chords nad notes) Courtney's is better. it could be right in each piece.stay tuned:)
Chords: maybe D G A but i'm sure it isn't G D A :)
C F G sounds really better.

Soy Mexicano March 25, 2004, 2:31

I personally dont think any of your peoples intros are correct, some are close but this is how I play it, and I grew up where the song came from, and I've met Los Lobos, which is who Richie Valens got the song from:

------------------------------
------------------------------
-----------0---2-0------------
---------2---3----------------
---0-2-3----------------------
-3----------------------------

------------------------------
------------------------------
-----------------------2-0----
-----0-3-3-2-0---2-0-3--------
---2-----------3--------------
-3----------------------------

-1-1-1-1-1-0---1-1-1-1-1-0----
-------------1----------------
------------------------------
------------------------------
------------------------------
------------------------------

---------------------1-0---0--
-1--1-1-1-1-1--3-0-3-----3---1
------------------------------
------------------------------
------------------------------
------------------------------

Dan April 9, 2004, 0:22

ok im not amazing on the guitar and im probally wrong but none of the above ways sound write to me. i've been listening to the song over and over and this intro sounds pretty close to me:

---------------------------
---------------------------
---------------2-0---------
---------2-2-3-------------
---0-2-3-------------------
-3-------------------------

now dats as far as i have got for trying to get the first bit to sound rite. maybe im wrong but let me know what you think.

ananomouse April 27, 2004, 5:13

dude on the last part of the intro and the last part of the first riff should be 2 0 not 0 2

middleman May 5, 2004, 6:28

cripes, just listen to the mexican. his version is the best.

jack June 8, 2004, 18:05

i'm with middleman. the mexican's version is the best

curtis June 13, 2004, 18:51

dennis December 3, 2004, 3:46

hey just stick with the c-f-g format ...... hand out the crisp packets e.t.c and get the auidience to make up the words .... you can fill hjalf a folk club gig like that lol

curtis February 26, 2005, 18:06

RICHIE VALENS DID NOT GET LA BAMBA FROM LOS LOBOS DUMBASS!!!!!!!!! YOU FUCKING PANZEY ASSED BITCH GO TO HELL

rufio March 1, 2005, 7:17

i'm with middleman and the dude below him. sounds the best and fuck if you have to just go buy the music sheets. a lot of people have screwed this song up. its pathetic and a shame cause its a good song.

primo de rufio October 1, 2005, 7:42

i agree with rrrrrufio too many people have fucked it up

Tha men July 4, 2006, 22:59

mexicans tab is the best

but i think it sounds cooler if you ad 2 notes so it gets

1-1-1-1-1-0--------1-1-1-1-1-0
------------1--1--------------
-----------------2------------
------------------------------
------------------------------
------------------------------
