PRETTY IN PINK
by the Psychedelic Furs
from the 1981 album Talk Talk Talk
(transcribed by Dan Scheraga dsche@erols.com,

Here we go, an 80's classic that sounds great and is pretty damn easy
to
play.

This song is best played with two guitars: One dirty and one clean. If
you've
only got one guitarist in your band, play the dirty part.

I find the dirty guitar part sounds best with the D, A and Em played
as open
chords and the rest barred. Also, with only the three or four lowest
strings
strummed.

For the intro riff, the dirty guitar plays this. It's repeated again
later on
in the song:

D B A G A
D B A G A

...and for the verse, the dirty guitar plays this:

D C G A
D C G A
D C G A
D C G A

And for the chorus, this:

Em	F#m	Gm	F#m
Em	F#m	Gm	F#m

Now, the clean guitar strums the same riff throughout the intro and
the verse.
Basically, it's all just variations on the D and A chords. Keep it
open and
jangly:

-3-3-3-2---2---2---2-3-3-3-2--0-0---------------------------------------------
-3-3-3-3---3---3---3-3-3-3-3--3-0-0-0-0-0--0--0---3-3-3-2---------------------
-2-2-2-2---2---2---2-2-2-2-2--2-0-1-1-1-0--0--0---2-2-2-2---------------------
----------------------------------0-0-0-0--0--0---2-2-2-2---------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For the chorus, the clean guitar adds a little bit of distortion. If
you have
a swell pedal, use it.
Repeat this riff four times on the high E string:

-2--0--2-3--2--0-----

That's it! Have fun with it.
