Sorry, forgot the high c of the C major chord... *rofl*
Of course, it's like this:
e -3-
B -1-
G -0-
D -2-
A -3-
E ---
you could alså plat the chords like this
Gsus4, Cmaj7, Dsus2 Em,sus2 for cooler sounding :)
E would be better instead of Em
No, sorry. It's e minor ;-)
Actually, i'd have to agree with clueless up there. Andre plays all major chords in the song.
how's about if you play E in the verses and Em in the chorus. everyones a winner hey ya!!
There is definitely no E-major in that progression. neither in the verse nor chorus...just look at the ending of the key riff...it's an e-minor triad. no g# anywhere.
the tab is right, 100%
agree with most. i also think it's an Em, not major.
it sounded just like the song hey-ya
Its an E MAjor Chord..the G# is clear to me
The tab was right, 80%......also, I dont hear a high (G) in the C chord either......not that it matters if you put it in or not....if anyone cares
Mike is right. There should by no g on the high e-string in the C chord. Misprint. Mistake. My fault... :-(
it's 100% a E major. One of my friends has the official "hey ya" sheet, and it says G C C D E. no further disussion!
It is E major, withuot a doubt. Em, are u guys serious??? it is out of key,but ur kidding if u reckon pop songs stay in certain keys.
is there any possible way that there is a G in this song? But if there is can u show me how u played it. The only reason I ask is because it doesn't sound right. Thanks
I am a piano major. It is E minor; and I would tell you why, but you might not understand.
Thanks,
Dex
Its definatly E MAJOR NO E MINOR NO WAY
thx :)
I actually think he plays both a g# and a g at random times... because I can hear both at times. And please, can you explain to us incompetant fools here mr. piano major why its Em? Because I've played piano for 14 years now, and arrange music (like this) for a local show choir. And I just want to know your reasoning behind it all.
in the debated Em measure the notes played are B, G, and E. now i dunno about piano but on guitar and every other instrument thats an E as a root and then a MINOR third up to G and then a major fifth from E to B. if it was an E major chord then it would have to be a G# to make a major third, thereby forming an E major chord. sorry mister piano major but thats chord building 101, guess you were absent that day
OOOOOOOOOOOOOO MR. PIANO MAJOR GOT BITCHMADE!!!
Its E major dude, it just doesn't sound like song. i've just played it a couple times over with E major and E minor and E major just sound better. Sounds fuller.
man these tabe are right on... they are perfect i say e minor all the way because thats the way it is just open your ears and you can hear it clearly
fuck you send good tabs like this
G C
My baby dont mess around
because she loves me so
D Em
and this i know fo sho
G C
but does she really wanna
but cant stand to see me
D Em
walk out the door
people with trained ears can tell that it's an Em. don't need any piano major, years of guitar expensive guitar lessons, or an "official" music sheet to hear it.
anyone with a brain stem can clearly hear that it's an Em and not an E. C'mon guys, open up your fuggin' ears.

its e major.
and its also really funny how frank tried to smack down dexter but actually they both had the same opinion. i dont think you can call someone an idiot when they are saying the same thing you are.
If you play acoustic or elec on your own you need to play E major or it sounds wrong, maybe the bass guitar plays a g slap to confuse you all but sitting here playing my guitar I play E MAJOR or it sounds shit
well firstly if u listen u hear its E MAJOR and second of all if u can't hear it, WATCH THE VIDIO!!! on the first close-up of the accoustic guitar player u can see he is playing an E MAJOR!!!!! so whoever still thinks otherwise i feel sorry for you... hope it helped u all
I think the g string is not played at all and somehow is muted with a finger-so it seems that one is playing an e major but actually is muting the g string.
Yesss, that is the solution!
Buoyakkashan! well said steef!!! you is da shiznit!! Everyone listen to dis dude (last post). Neither the major or the minor is played!! It's a muted g-string so when you watch him play it looks exactly like an E-major but its actually an E5 Chord!! That's why in the official Hey Ya music sheet it just said "E" not "E major". But E-minor would also fit the key (it's the relative minor to G)
P.S. If you think it's E-major then sorry but your guitar is out of tune or your ears are knackered from too many rock shows!
