Subject: Baby's Got Her Bluejeans On by Mel McDaniel

Scooter asked for this song. I think I remember changing the chord
progression on the chorus of this song. I like this progression, but you
should listen to Mel's version and decide which you like best. I know
some pickers feel that they must do a song the way the first person
records it - I believe in taking the same liberties with songs that the
recording artist does and modify them slightly to fit my style. Here's
how I do this one:

		BABY'S GOT HER BLUEJEANS ON
		Recorded by: Mel McDaniel

 (1 4) (1 4)
DOWN ON THE CORNER BY THE TRAFFIC LIGHT
 (1 4) (1 4)
EVERYBODY'S LOOKIN', AS SHE GOES BY
 (7b 4) (7b 4) (1 4)
THEY TURN THEIR HEADS & THEY WATCH HER 'TIL SHE'S GONE
(1 4) 57 (4 57) (1 4)(1 4)
LORD HAVE MERCY, BABY'S GOT HER BLUEJEANS ON
(VERSE 2)
UP BY THE BUS STOP, & ACROSS THE STREET
OPEN UP THEIR WINDOWS, TO TAKE A PEEK
WHILE SHE GOES WALKIN', ROCKIN' LIKE A ROLLIN' STONE
HEAVEN HELP US, BABY'S GOT HER BLUEJEANS ON
(CHORUS)
 (4 3m) (6m 1)
SHE CAN'T HELP IT IF SHE'S MADE THAT WAY
 (4 1) (4 57)
SHE'S NOT TO BLAME IF THEY LOOK HER WAY
 (4 3m) (6m 1)
SHE AIN'T REALLY TRYIN' TO CAUSE A SCENE
 27 57
    IT JUST COMES NATURALLY,
 57
NO THE GIRL CAN'T HELP IT
(VERSE 3)
UP ON MAIN STREET, BY THE TAXI STAND
THERE'S A CROWD OF PEOPLE, IN A TRAFFIC JAM
SHE DON'T LOOK BACK, SHE AIN'T DOIN' NOTHIN' WRONG
LORD HAVE MERCY, BABY'S GOT HER BLUEJEANS ON

This song is only difficult until you "get in the rhythm" of these chord
changes, then it becomes easier. Also, if anyone doesn't understand the
number system for chords, I sent an explanation in to Greg with my last
submissions a week or two ago. I'm not on the net, so not sure if he
published them but he probably still has it. If he finds a lot of people
need the explanation, I'm sure he'll put it out. If not, I'm at
tipper11@juno.com.
To those of us who use the numbers all the time, it's pretty
basic, but I remember how confusing it can be to a beginner. If you
don't use them, you should -- they simplify and therefore improve your
playing in ways you can only imagine until you get intimate with them.
