These are just the chords i didn't want to take an hour to put in the

for the solo in. Please put some new songs in here. I don't want to see
any more.

Please give me your comments on this masterpiece. Ha ha.

Subject: TAB: GREEN DAY--Welcome to Paradise (the whole song)

Here is my tablature and lyrics for Green Day's "Welcome
to Paradise" as it's played on their Dookie album. I like
to give the complete tab, rather than just list the chords
(e.g., some have said that "it's just E D A G B"), in
order to show the actual strings to play for the "E" chords
and to show the entire rhythm, etc.

Yes, I know it is a "simple" song; but I like it and I
wanted to figure it out exactly (or as close as possible)
and tab it, even if only to help others learn how to
play it correctly if they so desire.

I have tried to indicate as closely as possible the way
it is played by Billie. I've taken clues as to how he
plays it from a tape of GD playing at Woodstock '94, but
this tab tries to reflect how it's played on the album,
not live. (The live version does have some differences.)
I'm sure of all the positions of the chords; they showed
it pretty well on the Woodstock tape.

Note that there are at least two guitar tracks recorded
on the CD at various times, usually playing the same
thing. But, for example during the bridge, they're playing
different things. I've tried to tab the most "interesting"
or "prominent" one. I know there are some harmonics played
during the bridge; I haven't tabbed them, just the main
riff.

Any comments, corrections, chatter, etc. welcome.

Enjoy!

lyrics:

(verse 1)
Dear mother can you hear me whinin(g)
It's been three whole weeks since [-aah-] I left your (h)ome
This sudden fear has left me tremblin(g)
'Cause now it seems that I am out here on my own
And I'm feelin(g) so alone

(chorus)
Pay attention to the cracked streets and the broken (h)omes
Some call it slums some call it nice
I wanna take you through a wasteland I like to call my (h)ome
Welcome to Paradise

(verse 2)
A gunshot rings out at the station
Another urchin snaps and left dead on his own
It makes my wonder why I'm still here
For some strange reason it's now feeling like my (h)ome
And I'm never gonna go

(chorus)

(bridge)

(verse 3)
Dear mother can you hear me laughin(g)
It's been six whole months since [-aah-] I left your (h)ome
It makes my wonder why I'm still here
For some strange reason it's now feeling like my (h)ome
And I'm never gonna go

i know what dookie is, cause my momma said i was the best at playing the guitar in the whole family, and she should know cause there is like 5 of us living here, and im real smart and your not, so there, and you've got poopie in your pants, maybee you should change your underwear, your probably just a little kid anyway, my dad will kick your dads ass, and me and some of my friends will kick your ass, so you better shut the hell up cause i got told i am real smart and i dont get things wrong, so go fuck yourself
