"More than Words" by Extreme
Tap the guitar on 2 and 4 beats of each measure with all four fingers of
right hand

each two dashes counts for one eigth note

 --3---3---3---3- | --3-----3-3----- | --0-----3------- | --0---2---3---3- |
 --3---3---3---3- | --3-------3---1- | --1-------1---1- | --1---3---3---3- |

 ---------------- | ---------------- | ---------------- | --------0------- |

 ------2-------3- | ------3-3-3---0- | ------0-0-0---3- | --------0------- |
 ---------------- | ---------------- | ---------------- | --------------3- |

these two lines are what I'm gonna call the "intro line".
play it once for intro.
play it again for the first part of verse
"Sayin 'I love you' is not the words I want to hear from you
It's not that I want you, not to say but if you only knew"

on "knew", instead of playing the last eigth note in the intro line, you
play

  0- | instead of 3- |
  -- | 3- |
  -- | -- |

lyrics:

verse 1
Sayin "I love you" is not the words I want to hear from you
It's not that I want you not to say but if you only knew
how easy it would be to show me how you feel
more than words is all you have to do to make it real
then you wouldn't have to say that you love me
'cause I'd already know

chorus
What would you do
if my heart was torn in two?
more than words to show you feel
that your love for me is real
What would you say
if I took those words away?
Then you couldn't make things new
just by sayin' "I love you"

la di da da da di da da di da..etc...

verse 2
Now that I have tried to talk to you and make you understand
all you have to do is close your eyes and just reach out your hands
and touch me, hold me close don't ever let me go
more than words is all i ever needed you to show
then you wouldn't have to say
that you love me 'cause I'd already know.

nice, long and lengthy, eh? hope you guys have fun with this.

-brought to you with the help of sheet music that I used to learn the song..
I think most of it is right since I pretty much memorized the whole thing
while learning it.

This tab is pretty good and very close to the original song but not precisely. The intro and the verse are pretty simple but the hard part is the chorus, so i'm just writing to inform everyone that with this tab you can learn the basics of the song and get and idea and one can get the rest of the song by using their ear

Vik S. January 3, 2003, 9:29

Hey these tabs are completly accurate accept that it should be played a fret up. instead of third fret, it should be second fret, an so on. but great job on the tabs!!! I LIKE I LIKE!!

j.ngo January 7, 2003, 4:17

do you mean all the frets that are 3 go to 2 or do you mean the 1's go to 0 and so on and so ... where do the 0's go?

Elizeire January 11, 2003, 18:51

I always want know play this song correctly
this tab is very nice
if you can sing and play,
very nice job with tabs,greatfull!!!

SmootH OperatoR January 17, 2003, 6:44

I have played this tab and i would have to say that the person who wrote this tab must have been retarded, screwed in the head or sumthin because this tab is is totally fucked. Personally i will send in a tab of how i would play "more than words" and i bet that it would kick this screwy tab. Fuck the person who ever wrote that tab because it made me waste precious time playing it.

raisin January 18, 2003, 4:09

I've been figuring this tab for a long time.
I like this tab!
The one who had done this tab is brilliant! The instructions are very clear for a beginner like me.

davo January 21, 2003, 12:03

for the brainless morons out there, tune your guitar down half a step, or a semi-tone, to E flat, then play this tab with the CD, it'll be exact

micheo January 24, 2003, 9:17

Or alternatively, buy the record on vinyl and over power you hi fi so it plays at about 35 RPM rather than 33. That way it will play a semi tone higher so you wont have to retune your guitar.
Or maybe not.

pekerhed February 18, 2003, 6:32

This tab works fine. It put me in the ballpark at least.
As for "SmootH OperatoR", if you already knew the tune SO WELL....why the hell did you play to these tabs in the first place? You seem confused and spiteful. Need a hug? Damn, it's a love song you idiot. Lighten up. dork.

Frank February 22, 2003, 23:47

No se compren ninguno de los cancioneros ¨Para tocar y cantar con letras acordes y tablaturas¨ de Ricordi son una CAGADA!

joe February 28, 2003, 19:53

you need to add the words below, its hard to know where to play these notes man.

-joe

Claire March 18, 2003, 15:29

Look, quit the bitching and could someone please tell me if this tab is accurate? It's for a friend, so I don't want to make myself look really stupid by handing over a tab that plays for toffee!! Cheers!

DAVID March 24, 2003, 5:11

I have only gotten thru the 1st verse but I would say this is pretty close to the way Extreme is playing it on the version I listen to. Tune your guitar with a capo on the 1st fret and then take the capo off and you should be in tune with song.
I agree that putting the words underneath the tab would make the playing and singing easier to figure out. But hey who can sing anyway.
I appreciate Ben Yau's efforts. Ben if you ever get the time please put this out with the words under the tab, then it would be perfect and we could really maybe play this beautiful song. In this case it is not more than words but put the words...just kidding..Thanks again.

nassim March 27, 2003, 12:06

Raul April 9, 2003, 9:02

these tabs are very good, but i agree with joe it would be better if youdd the words to the tabs to make'em easy
good job!

Eric April 11, 2003, 7:08

This tab is accurate, like someone else said, tune down a half step. I'm still trying to work this thru my guitar but it's totally accurate. Good job, nice sheet music... makes me want this one on vinyl.

cesar May 19, 2003, 9:54

hey you! ur tab is great but pls. simplify the tricky part...

BloodyAngel May 21, 2003, 13:00

The beginning of the tab is ok... You got it right there, but on the rest of the song... It does not sound right!!! Anyway it is a bit different from the original tabs i think... I have to check :)

kai June 15, 2003, 19:42

love this tab! but one exception. please please please please and i'll say it one more time, please, put the words under each column...I have a son that is trying to learn this song, and he is only in the 7th grade. He is getting really frustrated because there are no words. He has to keep playing the cd to get it right, but he always gets lost. Can you please put the words. Although he really likes these tabs. But he just wanted to make one suggestion. THE WORDS PLEASE! GREAT TABS THOUGH!

banjuju July 17, 2003, 14:56

You don't need the words actually, I have the original tablature of this song from Guitar World dated ages ago. ALl you need is to get the chords(memorize it, and its possible cause it uses only basic chords and a bit of advance but majority its basic), have the right tune then play with the Song (run mp3, or cd) thats how I did it even the out through. This song is one headstart and one major leap specially when you were able to master the hammer ons and the tapping :)

R.J October 26, 2003, 21:47

Awsome tab. i have always been playing it different but this is way better

Jimmy November 18, 2003, 6:52

I'm trying to teach myself how to play guitar and I'm having a little difficulty reading the tabs. What does the 0 mean?

bzone November 19, 2003, 20:48

JIMMY:
the 0 means to play the string open, not fretting anywhere, just hit that string...got it?
God bless-

jesie November 25, 2003, 18:57

hello everyone!!!! i have question guys!!!!! in the part of the song "dont ever let me go" what chords do i use there im a little confuse!!!! thanks..

Jimmy November 26, 2003, 8:55

Okay, so I kinda got the intro down but I did notice as everyone was saying that it's not in tune with the cd (mp3). I tried playing it up a fret and immediately and obviously I hit trouble in the third tab when I ran out of frets to play where it said 1. Is there a solution to this? I'm sure there is, can someone tell me?

santana December 16, 2003, 6:06

well u shud add da chords 2

Kaddy June 11, 2004, 13:00
