How to read tabs?

COCAINE

This song works really good if played with one bass, one singer/lead guitar,
one second guitar, and one person on the drum set.  The music for the set is
really easy... I don't have it notated or anything, but I think it's eighth
notes on the weak beats played on the hi-hat, and quarters on the strong beats
played on snare and bass.  The bass line is really easy and repetitive.  The verses
work really well if you have the lead guitar playing the EEDEED riff while singing,
and the second guitar plays it an octave higher, alternating between the riff and
runs in C.

u've done a top job with this tab. just think that using power chords rather than the open chords sounds a lot better. good tab though

dude, this tab is totally incorect. The main riff isint open chords, its freakin power chords or what u could do is just your fingers on all the strings and play 9979 97
