No offense man, but i cant see how this tab sounds anything like the orignal. The chords seem to be completely wrong. Good luck next time.
rod if you had any
brains.......you would have
had a first bar capo on your
guitar!!!!!!!!
Dont worry jason its cool
GOOD JOB
a blindfolded chimp with a pencil between its teeth could write a more accurate tab than this!
I was using the capo, and all im writing is my opinion, never said everyone else had to aggree.
My progreesion goes like this: Intro: G5 for 4 bars then Cadd9,G,Cadd9,Dsus4,G. Then starting Don't it always seem.... it's G,D,Am,G,C,D; next verse. Outtro is Cadd9,G;Cadd 9,G; Cadd9,G;Cadd9,Dsus 4,G. Just some thoughts.
Get off Rod's back. Saw the crows do this and all the guitarists had capo on the first fret !!
Cause you have to change
the tuning moron. Thats
why it sounded right when
they used 1st fret capo cuz
they do that as well as a
differnt tuning thatn
standard. So pull ur head
from your ass and go to
olga.net
why dont u all get the fuck off this guys back?if you've got a problem with the tab...WORK IT OUT URSELF U BUNCH OF FAGGOTS!!! this chap's gone to the bother of tabing this out for u ungrateful fuck faces...now get ur hands off ur dick and go play some fucking six string!
Dave from scotland: great! definitely I agree with you!
bye
OH MY GOD. FUCKING computer nerds. Leave the guy alone. You freaks can't even decide on the proper tabs for a song that has been around for longer than most of you. Here is a tip listen to the song and figure it out for yourselves. Oh my bad tone deaf fucks, go back to you doom 3 or whatever and leave the guitar alone. None of you have any right to pick one up. At least this guy had a go. Fucking critics. pathetic really pathetic.
Has anyone tried listenin to the original version of the song? It might help. I can't remember who sang it though... Edie Brickel maybe? Joni Mitchel?

Sounds good enough for me to play at a party and get people singin along, that makes it good enough for me. Thanks brother.
nice work man.keep up the good work.crows really done this one good.and all the assoles out the wanna be critics me say go play wif ya sisters ok....the tabs are correct you jus gotta improvise.do more tabs man best of luck
AHAHAHAHAHHHAHAHAHAHH
HAAHAHAH!!! Its all right man
you got the chords right but think
the order is a bit off, just laughin
at the comments thought fans of
counting crows would have less
angst!
cool tab. first crows one i've found. The original was Joni Mitchell, and I agree with those others about the pricks that think they're better than the rest. elitist commy eight-month pregnant baboon bellied hippos (whom no doubt have a glandular problem), you guys do better. just need to go find a good charlotte one now and my afternoon of tab crawling is complete! thanks again,
Leave the guy alone.....at least he's had a go....I haven't. Why not look under 'Joni Mitchell', now there's an idea !!! That version is pretty good, in open E tuning, or just play the given chords in standard.
Cheers from 'Down Under'
I think that you guys are pretty sad cussing him out. if you think that his version is wrong make a better one and don't gove him any crap about it. it's easy to criticise. just shut up about it. you don't like it > don't use it! PERIOD!
hahahahaha some of the comments are really funny. i can't get the timing right though for some parts of the song.
Jason had it right except for the chorus and Kevin figured out what nobody else has--the chords got a little mixed up in the translation-till its gone..on gone hit the G from the C and on paved hit a C--
Thanks for getting me started on the song Jason, I appreciate it.
Nice, sounded like it was right on the money. thanx
hey frank, where is your version of this song?it seems fine when i play it must b just u!why not stop offending the counting crows wiv ur crappy playing and learn something a little more your level.i think ba ba black sheep might be a better option!hey jason thanx for the tabs, counting crows rock! ;)
first of all if you think it sux use the ranking thing or watever it is
don't flame this guy for a tab he made that actualy seem to be pretty good to me.
if you think it sux buy a capo (yes i think i have a right to say my thing here....
since i already posted about 30 tabs on this site) with good comments.
i think it rocks when i play and sing along.
(jason don't get disincuraged by some bad comments m8)
look at the good post you've gotten.
some people just can't handle the guitar and have to blame someone else for that..
hey man its all right dont worry wat any1 else says its cool, GOOD WORK!!
nyc try man..... add some more effort nxt tym.. gudluk!
Dude, this tab could be in the correct key. I haven't tried playing it yet, but I also know it's no where near how the song goes. I know for sure that in the Chorus you have, each line has at least two chord changes. I.E
Chord 1 Chord 2
Don't it Always seem to go
Chord 3 ( most likely chord 1 )
That you don't know what you've
Chord 4 ( most likely chord 2 )
Got till it's gone.
Man...I'm not going to completely diss your tab for this song, but I CAN say that it's not the best thing I've seen. The original song (written by the one and only Joni Mitchell) is in Open E (E B G# E B E) and you can bar the 5th minus the highest 2 strings(5 5 5 5 0 0) (A Chord)and then open (0 0 0 0 0 0) (E chord) and then a B (0 2 0 1 0 0) Those are the three chords. The progression is: A, E for the verse and E, A, A, B, E for the chorus. You can figure out the rhythms for yourself. By the way this is mainly just for acoustic stuff, but I think it sounds better that way. Happy playing guys
Please, leave to the original
Whahahahaha, You're all giving the poor boy such a hard time, but I guess if we all find our way to play this tab, we're guna be fine? Won't we? Good Luck, and thnx for the tab! Love, Ineke
Hey Guys leave the guy alone! At least he tried to give you guys some help. Besides if you just do what we do - get dunk and have a good nights craic it sounds PRETTY DAMN GOOD!!!!!!!!!!
Hello Children ... can't say this sounds too good but it's more than likely my guitar, or me
I can't believe i just spent an hour of my life reading all of those comments....
Hey everyone JP has the right idea. This is a great version for sing-alongs good job Jason. Keep it up...
man, all you fuckers are
trippin balls man. you cant
just come up in here and
start yellin yo shit
everywhere about one
person makin a mistake
about an instument that
makes beautiful music. I
give up my props to Jason
for makin an effort to come
up with some chords for
people to get an idea of
what to play. Also, i would
like to say something to all
the dicks in the asses who
are trippin, fuck you and
your mother fuckin motha.
Peace out bitches.
Very much doubt if anyone will read this but three points to make. It is a good version not 100% but if you play it to your friends they would know what you were playin. The original was slightly tweaked be Counting Crows so there is ikely to be some differences in exact tunings (openE 1st fret Capo whatever) and finally to everyone who said that it was really bad you are entitled to your opinion but give the guy a break offer you advice or better still do your own tab.
This tab just needs some work, but matches the song fine with a capo. The verse should progress like this: C G C D G . Chorus is G C C D G.
Aaron, dude, I am so with ya. I cannot believe that I just spent the last 20 minutes trying to figure out what the heck these fellas are arguing about. If you ask me, I think that they should turn their Computer off, grab a guitar and have at it. Why argue when you can figure it out yourselves! Oh, and Im sure that some of you could do better, but I really do not think you would be able to deal with all of this like Jay has. Suck it up and Play it up Guys! "Keep on Keepin On!"
Oh and Jason, Good Job, we can figure out the rest from here, and keep on posting stuff, Crows Rock!
First, to all the idiots who think
this tab is right and think its ok to
play at parties b/c your friends
won't notice -- give up on playing
music and do all those poor
souls at your parties a favor.
Second, Jason keep workin'
you're in the ball park but you
need more practice. Tabbing
gets easier with time.
Third, I haven't seen one correct
post of the chorus in up in here,
so here it is: G on "Don't" (fretting
only strings 1&2, strumming only
strings 1-4, one strum); D on
"seem" (fretting only 1&2, another
words leave 3 open, strum only
1-4, one time); a full C, single
strum, on the second "don't", not
an A minor as several posts have
said; G on "gone", one strum;
then regular strumming C on
"paved"; D on "put"; G on "lot".
Oh my god, this is the funniest thing I have ever read. I love how passionate and foul-mouthed musicians are! Rock On! all you guitar players.
Nice 1 Pal!!!!!
Hey guys this tab is abit out but good work on it. It gave me some good points on my tab i was going to do in the future . Hey good work with this tab and guys please get off robs back thanx a million and Kepp on playing ya tunes guitarist!!!!!!
The tab is easy. The tuning is:
G-B-D-G-D-G with capo on first fret. Chords are as follows in the verse: a combination of open for one beat and then fifth string first fret and then third string second fret with fifth string third fret then back to open. Repeat. Chorus is: 7th fret third string with 8th fret fifth string for four beats and then thirs string and fifth string fifth fret. then repeat the stuff above. Guaranteed to please.
jason, nice tab and crap
but the big yellow taxi took my girl away, not my old man.
i like girls that play bass
While you all carry on beatin' each other down, can someone tell me where to find a correctly trascribed version of this song including tunings
chill out guys!! if your a true music lovers, your forgetting-its music, just enjoy it-you dont have to get all uppety about it! happy playing! xx
Tnx for the effort m8, keep up the good work. It's a really nice and easy interpretation of the song which should bring lot's of joy to a lot of beginning players who just love to play and bring some cheer with it to listeners! (That's what it's all about m8!! Never mind the other 'not so nice fellas' who rather believe in DEStructive critisism than in CONstructive critisism. You did just fine on the chords there. However (don't be alarmed m8..;) I think I have to agree with that Kevin about the 'reversing' on the C and G chords. I've checked it with the record, and while playing and singing it just sounds more accurate if you reverse them. Still, in conclusion: Good Job m8! Please don't let anyone discourage you to do more tabs. There will always be People like me who won't forget to check yours first next time.. ;)
Highest regardz to all you music-lovers.
Jvnkie^
I couldn't agree more with Dave. Please people, we are all getting tabs for free on the inet, so lets keep the 12 year old profanity to a bare minimum. We get tabs of the net so we dont have to spend the time figuring these songs out ourselves. Lets be greatful while this resourse is still available. Thanks to all my guitar players out there!!! Cruz
What an arguement!!
11 february - 23 June
You lot have got to chill out
fair play, good tab.
lol i think that some of you guys need spelling lessons...
was just wanting to say hey you all were not born with a guitar in you hands so take it easy if you are so good why were you looking for the tab in the first place
iv played ot this way for a long time and it always gets a pretty good reaction from the crowd so get off this guys back. If it dont sound right you obviously can't even strum a simple rhythm
Well all this effort into this post has inspired me to dust off the Les paul gold top!

Geeze-us
20 pages of bickering & squabbling and so little about the actual song or anything productive. You guys all going out or something? Sounds like it.
:)
I have been working on this song for two days now and have found that an open G tunning really sounds great. Thanks lots and lots Jason. If it sounds beautiful to you than thats the magic... let fools with attitudes live in silence..
thanx to all ya'll who offered advice or a good comment. to the rest of ya, if ya dont like it figure it out yourself and leave the guy alone, he's not getting paid for this, and you're not loosing money so don't bitch. is this the direction society's going? somebody answer me. peace and love
Listen give the guy a break. I can't believe that guys who play guitar can give another musician such a hard time... Musicians know how hard it is to put your ass up there to get kicked so give the guy a break... Thanks
Well said Tony R!!!
look if you guys would spend half as much time accually trying to play the song as you do talking about it, you might get it right
thanx m8.it's taken me ages to find this tab. its sounds ok2me n it enough2get me started. its bin a long time since the last posting on here but i thort id say cheers anyway. peace.
it depends only on how creative you are on playing that song.IT DEPENDS ONLY ON UR CREATIVITY.......
This is all wrong. There should be a capo at the 12th fret with the chords Dadd11, Gmin 7, E major, F# major and C7.
I agree thats it's all wrong, but the guy gave it a go, give him some slack for that. So now reading all these i am very confused on what the real cords for the friggen song are? Can someone email me the cords...Thanx..luv me
good on u 4 putting dat on and f**k all da people who say it sucks it sounds fine 2 me!!!
I wrote a tab a couple of years ago(1-2). It's on olga and it's in open G tuning, Peter mentioned it onjune 8 2003. If you're comfortable with alternate tunings, try it out. I tabbed it from the tonight show, and i verified it in concert, so i'm positive that's how it's played, but if you don't feel like possibly breaking a string, i'd stick to a tab like this one in standard tuning, i haven't tried playing this one so i don't know how it sounds. by the way, this forum is quite humorus, you all should try typing your name into google when you're bored, it's funny what pops up.
