Subject: Happiness Alone by Clint Black

I'm not sure if my musical ear was quite up to the task of transcribing this
song. Any corrections would be greatly appreciated. - Darragh Egan.

HAPPINESS ALONE - by Clint Black

INTRO: E B7 E B7

  E A E - B A
I think I'll go back down to New Orleans, try to bury my travellin' bone
     E A B7 B7
Unpredictable me like I swore I would be, nothing's ever written in stone.
          E A
There's a knock on her door, is she here anymore?
        E - B A
I guess me and the neighbors will see.
       E A
If the one thing that I couldn't do without her
A - B7 E
She couldn't do without me.

CHORUS: A A
Could I leave her behind, go on losin' my mind,
                  E E
While the good times continue to roll.
                  A D
With this time on my hands, I could change all my plans
               B7 B7
And it really wouldn't bother a soul
                E E
I could make all the rounds, paint all the towns
           A A
Do all that and more on my own,
              E B7 E
But a man can't survive on Happiness Alone.

Take a good look around, this is New Orleans
A free wheeler's got to feel right at home
But it's a hell of a leap, whether shallow or deep
That old river's gonna keep moving on
Like that muddy Mississippi, she keeps pulling me under
When you're in it nothing ever seems clear
I could stand on the bank, just toss in my line
But there's way too many fish around here

Could I leave 'em behind for the one the line
Are the good times still gonna roll?
With this time on my hands, I could change all my plans
And it really wouldn't bother a soul
I could make all the rounds, paint all the towns
Do all that and more on my own,
But a man can't survive on Happiness Alone.

I've tried playing it in the key of D with a capo on the 2nd fret, but the
voicing of the arpeggios sounds more like the original if it's just played
in the key of E without the capo. By the way, I play the B7 as x21202 and
the B as x24442 for this song. The voicing of the notes sounds too high if
you play them as bar chords up at the 7th fret.
