Here's a version (Chuck berry's I presume - wasn't he the guy that
wrote it?) that sounds O.K. - play with a triplet feel, and play
it fast!

If anybody knows something different/better.... I'm all eyes.

Johnny B. Goode
Chuck Berry

     A
Deep down in Louisiana, close to New Orleans,
A
Way back up in the woods among the evergreens,
      D
There stood a log cabin made of earth and wood
      A
Where lived a country boy named Johnny B. Goode
    E
Who never ever learned to read or write so well,
             A
But he could play the guitar just like a ringin' a bell.

CHORUS:

A
Go! Go! Go, Johnny, go! Go!
                  D
Go, Johnny, go! Go!
A
Go, Johnny, go! Go!
A E
Go, Johnny, go! Go! Johnny B. Goode

He used to carry his guitar in a gunny sack,
Go sit beneath the tree by the railroad track.
Old engineers would see him sittin' in the shade,
Strummin' with the rhythm that the drivers made.
When people passed him by they would stop and say,
'oh, my but that little country boy could play'

CHORUS

His mother told him, 'someday you will be a man,
You will be the leader of a big ol' band.
Many people comin' from miles around
Will hear you play your music when the sun go down.
Maybe someday your name'll be in lights,
Sayin' 'Johnny B. Goode tonight''

CHORUS

Im surprised how well you tabbed this! The only thing Im unsure about is the D in the chorus, but well, it may be me as well :P

The D in the chorus is alright but you don't switch back to the A until the end of the next line. The tab is great good job.

alex August 6, 2004, 19:26

Nice, nice job ! It sounds smooth.

Strat-Man March 14, 2005, 8:26

After reading your tab, I have to say it is very good except for one minor detail, your tabs are in the key of "B flat" and the rest of the song is in the key of "A". What makes you think this works?

samg August 21, 2005, 7:14

Get over it and just convert it. the man has done the best he can.

fuck you assholes March 22, 2006, 3:44

What the hell is a triple feel? Someone please explain.
