The prominent string instrument is a "papoose," which is basically a small guitar. It's
tuned like a guitar, but 5 half-steps higher, i.e. ADGCEA (to match standard guitar tuning
EADGBE). I think maybe this papoose tuned GDGCDG (corresponding to DADGAD)--or something
close--and capo 4. But I haven't worked it out. So for now I just put standard key-of-A
guitar chord fingerings (listed under PAPOOSE) that you could use on a standard-tuned capo 2
papoose. You could also capo 7 on a guitar and use these. If anybody wants to buy me a
papoose so I try this out, email me!

Another way to play this to sound like the recording would be capo 2 on a high-strung guitar.
This is the way the original version of "Piece Of Glass" is played on thed Intimate Portrait
EP. The third through sixth strings (EADG) are the small strings from a 12-string guitar,
so they are an octave higher. This gives a distinctive sound, but the cool thing is that
you can play the song on a normal guitar and use exactly the same chord fingerings, though
it of course sounds a bit different since some of the notes are an octave lower. I listed
these fingerings under GUITAR. This is my favorite way to play it so far, which is why I
listed it first and named the chords in the key of D. Of course, the actual key of the song
is E major.

Sorry for the confusing, incomplete and inaccurate description. Maybe I'll fix it up later.
I'm interested to see how Aaron dealt with this in the songbook, maybe he'll give more than
just the rhythm guitar chords. Buy the songbook! http://caedmonscall.com/merch.htm
