Some explanations:
1.For the intro and RIFF 7 you must fret the low E string on the 1st
fret, prebend a whole step and then release (that's what the R means).
2.Blank columns (as in Riff 1) do not count in timing. They are used
only to distinguish the tab numbers.

I baought the tablature at the music store and the main riff is

The intro is played on the low E and A strings, and it goes like this:

ok, Scott is right, it's played on the top E string. I too have the official Black Sabbath book, and Scott is right. Oh yeah, and the beginning, isn't (3) R 1. You can do that if you dont have locks on your guitar. I do have tuning locks, but the way that it is CORRECTLY done, is to go past the first fret, and off the neck of the guitar, and hit it open and bend in that part after the neck.
oh yeah, and dont use this guys iron man version, it's wrong.

Here is the begining of the song how Iomie played it(Randy Rhoads played it differently):
Go past the 1st fret and bend

you guys that posted other tabs for the main riff...ur retarded, its the same thing but in a different key, or its in the same jey just on a different string, doesn't realy matter how you play it, as long as the increments are the same. But, if you do want to play it in the same key as the black sabbath version, the original tabs are right, just listen to the song and play it at the same time

lol yall are all tabbing it the same way in the same key but in different positions on the fretboard. You shouldn't worry about doing exactly what Iomi does cuz thats what makes Iomi Iomi.

I aggree with unknown here but I play it with power chords and thats pretty much the same thing only you have two frets ahead of the 6th string and it's on the 5th

there, now you kno the simple and acurate way, o yea, play that on the top string or the 2 top strings, either one works fine.
try it the same way as the tab but
1 strin lower each note
if u look at the video u c that he is playing what "here is how iron man is properly played" said so try it.
