BEN KWELLER------------------------ THE SWEATER SONG

TABBED BY-------------------------- TAYA ANNABLE

i dont even know if ben wrote this, i assume he did because he performed it in a
theatre in early 2001. Anyway i love this song to pieces, the idea of some guys sweater falling to pieces
because his ex girlfriend grabbed a thread of it after she's just been dumped, thus leaving the sweater wearer
naked on the floor
"he's come undone"
And the western sounding guitar fingerpicking just makes the whole song even more rediculous. But what would you
expect from ben Kweller? anyways i dont think this has been tabbed yet so here goes!

Intro/verse/outro

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------0----------------0----------------1--0-----------------0----------------------
----------3----------------3----------------0--------------------3--------------------------
------0----------------2----------------0--------------------2------------------------------
-------------------3-------------------------------------3----------------------------------
--3-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The chorus basically that in chord form.

G C D C
If you want to destroy my sweater..... etc.

so yeah just play that twice before you start singing, ill include the lyrics because its annoying when people dont.

N.B These lyrics are probably waaaaaay wrong. But the only recording we have is a live one, so its not that clear.
I listened to the song about 30 times and this was the best i could do:

i'm me. me be. god damn. I am.

i can, sing it, hear me. Know me.

If you want to destroy my sweater,

hold its thread as i walk away

oh no. It go. It gone. bye bye.

blue eye, i think, i seek, AND I DIE!

If you want to destroy my sweater (wooahooaaaaho)

hold it's thread as i walk away (as i walk away)

watch me unravel i'll soon be naked

lying on the floor lying on the floor

i've come undone.

(If you're going for the ben kweller style performance, scream "GUITAR SOLO!!!!!!" as loud as you can at this point)

(Chorus chords with a different strumming pattern X2)

if you want to destroy my sweater

hold this thread as i walk away (as i walk away)

watch me unravel i'll soon be naked

lying on the floor lying on the floor

i've come undone

i don't want to destroy your **random word, possibly turtle**

hold this thread as i walk away

i see you lying in your...... superman skivvies

lying on the floor lying on the floor

Ive come undooooooone.

un un un un un un uuuuhuhun.

my only question is... who doesn't know about Weezer? Where have you been living? Under a rock?

manintheshack December 8, 2003, 18:30

The missing word you're looking for is 'tanktop' and the line below should read 'Let's be friends and just walk away'.

its weezer!!! you peice of crap..
how could you not know that...
omg you suck... and the tabs are
wrong

Patrick June 2, 2004, 2:39

Lol, he doesn't know if it's been tabbed yet. I'm sure it was tabbed back in 1994, when the Weezer album containing this track was released.

Hey, that's pretty good but it's wrong in a few places, it goes: E string 3, D string 2, G string 3, B string 0. Then you take your E string finger and move it down to the A string, you had that one right. Then, keeping your hand in the same formation, you slide it up 2 frets, then back down again and start over. The chords are then G, C, D, C, and powerchords after second verse.

Wow! You idiot! I cannot believe you! This is Weezer! How do you not know Weezer?!?! Ben Kweller did not write this! I mean i LOVE Ben Kweller and all, but this song was written by the best band on this earth. You are a disgrace. And the other person (LIZ) who thinks she knows everything, the lyrics actually is "I'm me. Be me." I know. I am a true fan of weezer's old music. Their new stuff-not so great.
