Artist: The Beatles
Song: Across The Universe (Album Version)
Music & Lyrics By: Lennon and McCartney
Album: Let It Be
Tabbed By: Nicholas Kent (nk_uofg@hotmail.com)
Intro Tabbed By: Chris (cts@mail.utexas.edu)
Hey, whats up everyone? This is my first tab attempt, so bare with me here.
I recently heard a cover to this Beatles song which made me want to learn
how to play it. But when I looked around "Olga.net" for the tab I realized
the present versions were all wrong. I recently saw an old interview (from
the 80's) with Paul McCartney and he was going through the chord
progressions for various Beatles songs and this happened to be one of them.
So......here are the correct chords (I think Paul is right considering he
wrote the song) and intro (not to sure about the intro, but I can guarentee
the chords are correct)
Note: I took the intro from previous tab attempts cause it's the closest
I've heard so far, but any corrections are welcome.
*Standard Tuning*
(I think the original song is played in C# or their is a capo being used,
but I don't have one...... so figure out where to put it yourself)

well, its alot better than the other versions ive seen.
keep up the good work.
the tabs were great, but is it so hard to write the rest of the lyrics ?? it doesn't take much effort...you took the time to type in the periods where the words would have been.....where you trying to be original? well congrats, you are the first dumb ass to leave out half of the lyrics.
The lyrics are not complete for copyright issues.
wow! you're so nice to have put the way to do the acccord! i love you!
FYI, John Lennon wrote this song, not Paul McCartney. I suppose that Paul wrote "Imagine?"
He's right, John wrote this along with other great works that Pauls claimed to write.
paul is one of the greatest mucians in the world why would he need to steal mucic from john
I didn't say he stole it he just gives that impression all the time, where the hell did the tab writer get that Paul wrote it. Paul?
Damn, It's all about the tab.. Not about who wrote the song!! Be happy with the tab! Is that so hard?
This is probably not helpful, but a really great version of this song is by Fiona Apple. It was on some movie closing credits. The unhelpful part is...I can't remember the movie, but I have it on cassette. Anyone know the source...not I am Sam.
Pleasantville
I have just got the Beatles LET IT BE DVD. It shows John Lennon playing most of the introduction too across the universe!
I have not studied this short piece of film yet, but i will! I've only just started playing guitar again, mainly because i love this song!!! Does anyone know the correct introduction??? Thanks
this is the correct intro

the actual intro starts on the fourth fret...the fiona apple song tuning is higher than normal tuning but if you wanna take it a couple steps down the intro goes:

It's all about the recording speed. Phil Spector (wingnut that he is) had as much to do with the sound and substance of The Beatles as anyone. Changing recording speeds was one of the cool things to do. It made covering a song harder. It was good business, too. Look at all The Beatles Sheet Music Books they sold to frustrated musicians, like us. I'm sure they played it however they wanted live. It was their song. That's what musicians do. They make it theirs. Fiona Apple's version is her's. My version is mine. This tab helped.
